Concrete Slab Pricing in Polk County

Standard 4"-thick concrete slab: $5.30–$7.50 per square foot. A 400 sqft RV pad runs about $2,100–$3,000; a typical 600 sqft attached garage floor runs about $3,200–$4,500; a 1,200 sqft pole barn floor runs $6,400–$9,000. 5" or 6" thicker slabs for heavy equipment or vehicle storage add about $1–$2 per sqft.

Slab Services We Provide

  • Garage floors — new construction or replacement, with optional epoxy or polished finish
  • Shed pads — standard 4" slabs sized for prefab or stick-built sheds
  • RV pads — 5"+ thick slabs with rebar grid for diesel pushers and fifth-wheels
  • Hot tub pads — engineered for the dynamic load of a filled hot tub
  • AC condenser pads — typically 36" x 36" or 48" x 48"
  • Pole barn slabs — large-format slabs for outbuildings and workshops
  • Workshop floors — with optional polished or sealed finish
  • Mobile home pads — with proper tie-down anchors
  • Equipment pads — generators, pool equipment, water softeners

The Difference Between a Cheap Slab and a Good Slab

Two contractors can quote the same slab and bid wildly different prices. The cheap quote is almost always shortcutting base prep. Polk County's sandy soils need to be compacted in lifts, with a plate compactor, before any forms go up. Skip that step and the slab settles, cracks, and tilts within a couple of years. We've replaced a lot of cheap-quote slabs in Winter Haven that were only 5–7 years old.

The other difference is concrete spec. We pour 4,000 PSI minimum mix on residential slabs, with fiber mesh on most jobs and rebar grid on RV pads, garage floors that will see vehicle loads, and any slab over 5" thick. Cheap quotes pour 2,500–3,000 PSI and skip reinforcement. Our slabs are designed to last 30+ years.

Standard Polk County Slab Spec

  • 4–6" compacted gravel base
  • 4" thickness (light residential), 5" (vehicle/RV), 6" (heavy commercial)
  • 4,000 PSI concrete mix or better
  • Fiber mesh reinforcement (residential) or rebar grid (vehicle/heavy)
  • Control joints sawn within 24 hours, every 10–12 feet
  • 1/8" per foot pitch for drainage on outdoor pads
  • Broom finish or smooth-trowel finish (epoxy-ready)
  • 7-day moist cure protection

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a concrete slab cost in Winter Haven?
Standard 4-inch residential slabs run $5.30–$7.50 per square foot. A typical 400 sqft RV pad costs $2,100–$3,000. A 600 sqft garage floor runs $3,200–$4,500.
What's the difference between a 4-inch and a 6-inch slab?
4 inches is the residential standard for shed pads, AC pads, and light-duty slabs. 5 inches is recommended for vehicle pads (RV, garage floors with daily use). 6 inches is for heavy commercial, equipment storage, or anything supporting concentrated loads.
Do I need rebar in my slab or is fiber mesh enough?
Fiber mesh is sufficient for most 4-inch residential slabs. Rebar grid is recommended for slabs over 5 inches, RV pads, garage floors with daily heavy use, or anything in soils with settling history. We'll spec rebar when it's needed and fiber mesh when it isn't — no upselling.
How long does a slab take to pour?
A standard residential slab (under 800 sqft) is typically a one-day pour with 1–2 days of prep before. Larger slabs may take 2–3 days for prep, forming, and pour. Cure time is 7 days minimum before heavy use.
Do I need a permit for a concrete slab in Polk County?
Most shed pads, AC pads, and RV pads under 200 sqft don't require a permit. Anything structural (garage, foundation, pole-barn slab) does. We confirm jurisdiction up front and pull the permit when needed.
Can you pour a slab over an existing one?
Sometimes — depends on the condition of the existing slab and what's being added. Often it's better and cheaper to tear out and repour. We'll evaluate during the estimate.
