Stamped concrete in Lake Wales for a 9,350 sq ft lot
The median single-family lot here is about 9,350 sq ft, and the median build year among dated parcels is around 1975. The busiest decade for dated homes was the 2000s, with the 1950s second. The largest appraisal neighborhoods are Lake Ashton Golf, Burns Ave, Downtown, Whispering Ridge and Dinner Lake - Brookshire. On those lots the stamped options are a new back patio on a newer lot, a rebuilt front walk on an older one, or a patterned apron where the driveway meets the street.
Bok Tower sits on Iron Mountain, which the city calls the highest point in peninsular Florida at 298 feet above sea level. Lake Wailes covers 300 acres in the middle of town. The ground changes across town, so one street's stamped slab can need very different prep from the next street's. Our stamped concrete page explains patterns and sealers, and the town page covers the rest of our work here.
Zoning check, survey and the two-department apron sign-off
The Building Division requires a permit for any new building, addition, structure, remodel or demolition, and its list of permitted work names patios, decks, driveways and parking pads. A driveway apron needs sign-off from both the Building Department and the Streets Department. If you skip the permit, the city says the owner or contractor pays double the permit fee as a penalty.
Before the city processes a permit for any structure, it verifies zoning compliance under Sec. 23-212, which means the application needs a property survey showing the location and size of the work. Zoning review is decided within ten business days of a complete application. Submissions are electronic, and the stamped approved plans have to be printed and kept on site for inspections. Owner Builder Disclosure Statement, Notice of Commencement and contractor forms are on the city's Forms & Checklists page. We pull the permit when the job needs one, so the filing falls on us, not you. The permit guide compares how each Polk city runs this step.
Stamped work here is priced at $12 to $22 per sq ft, a figure that bundles the pattern, the base, the release color and the first sealer. Jobs stretch from a 300 sq ft patio at $3,600 to a 650 sq ft driveway at $14,300, before an apron sign-off or a tear-out line is added.
| Job | Per sq ft | Worked example | What moves the price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small stamped patio | $12 to $22 | 200 sq ft: $2,400 to $4,400 | Pattern, colors, steps |
| Mid-size stamped patio | $12 to $22 | 350 sq ft: $4,200 to $7,700 | Border width, drains, grit coat |
| Stamped driveway | $12 to $22 | 650 sq ft: $7,800 to $14,300 | Thickness, apron sign-off, tear-out |
| Entry walk | $12 to $22 | 120 sq ft: $1,440 to $2,640 | Curves, short runs |
Tear-out of an existing slab is quoted on its own line after we inspect it. Treat every figure as a range. The exact price comes in the written estimate that follows the site visit, and that estimate is free.
